question: how are file versions handled?

Post by tobor »

Hi. I have a question about this line from SourceRSC's description:
"Files missing on the redirect are compressed and sent to the redirect with the approriate directory structure created."

Do newer versions of a file qualify as "missing"? For example, a new version of a map is released. We replace the older one on our server. SourceRSC will see a map with the same name on the redirect. So it's not missing, but different. Does SourceRSC know it's different?

I just wanted to be clear that the utility is not just using the file name and is using something like a hash.

Thanks!

It just looks at file names. You'll have to delete the file from the fastdownload server for it to get updated.

Thanks a lot for clarifying! Definitely going to check this out with my CSS server...
